Inspiration: Richard Avedon

I think Richard Avedon would be my inspiration for my portfolio because I like how he'll use mostly black and white photography. He also has very sharp pictures. With that you can see people for who they are; their wrinkles and their clothes. For his blurry pictures you are still able to see what action is happening. He pictures are also a bit grainy, which I enjoy.

Dirty House

All these pictures have to do with seeing smell or any other type of sense. This is why I have different colored smokes that match that object. I also made widows dirtier. I had to darken up the spider in the web so you were able to see it and made the webs more visible on the gate by going over them and lowering the opacity little. For all these pictures I wanted to find weird angles to have it seem distorted and feel out of space.

Yellow Boat Assignment

In this picture Breanna (left) is helping Sachi (right) to get up to the ledge. sachi is the one with HIV and Breanna isn't afraid to help her. Breanna doesn't care that she has to touch Sachi. Sachi's goal is to just be like everyone else and Breanna is there to help her.

I changed their shirts to red to represent the HIV/AIDS ribbon. I made the sky brighter. I also made the whole picture glow more. I think this picture has no balance because all the heavy objects are on the left side. I also hate how you can see the gate. The space above is good, I think. I had to cover up the light some way, so I copied the parts around it and pasted it above the light and used a "Darken" affect and it took most of the light cover away. I couldn't hide the bar some way.

I didn't really like this picture I took because I thought the assignment was difficult to do or to think of something.

Book: Dorian Gray

This project was actually pretty fun to do. Sachiko was my model for this because I think she is pretty enough to be a Dorian Gray. I had her bring in her sister's prom dress and her grandma's old jewelry. First we had her pose for the portrait, which was kind of difficult because I didn't really want her to smile and most of my pictures came out blurry. Then we had her lay on the floor, dead. This was even more difficult because I kept getting the sides cut off, like when the background ended and you get to see the room. I hated that I had to crop it. I found a frame online that I could use as the portraits frame. It's kind of old and Victorian look-ish. I wanted a Victorian frame because the book was made in a Victorian style.

For both pictures I had the saturation go up and make it look warmer. Another affect that I did was added more shadow to it to give it a darker look. For her old look I just put tree bark on her and erased the ends and lowered the opacity to 25%.

This scene I am trying to capture is when Dorian tries to "kill" his portrait but instead, killing him. The portrait actually ages while he remains beautiful but when he tries to ruin it, the "spell" reverses and he ends up being dead.

Stop Action Project

The stop action was fun and new. It took awhile to really get started. I helped set up and tear down the set. I think our movie is good and you get the story right away while still thinking how she is going to get rid of this "power." I liked how we decided that the background should be black and very simple. It was kinda difficult to do the project because there was so many people working. I don't think I would like to do this project again because it just took a lot of work and a lot of time.
